Over the past thirty years, coaching has emerged as the most effective way to develop your practice or business, advance your career and balance your professional and personal life. Many people have accomplished more in their lives with less effort by having a coach.

As a Seattle career coach, I draw on a diverse work background including sixteen years as Executive Director of the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers, six years as a public affairs consultant and government lobbyist and three years as a development officer for the Seattle Aquarium to assist clients with career/life integration, career transition or growth of a practice or new business.

I received my coach certification through Seattle Coach LLC, a communications degree from Gonzaga University and a masters degree in public administration from Seattle University. l currently serve on the City Club Board of Directors as Chair of Fundraising and on the local International Coaching Federation board as Chair of Member Communications.

    Coaching

    What is Coaching?

Coaching is a profession that is profoundly different from consulting, mentoring, advice, therapy or counseling. The coaching process addresses specific conditions and transitions in a person’s life, relationships or profession by examining what is going on right now, discovering what your obstacles or challenges might be, and choosing a course of action to make your life be what you want it to be.

As a coach, I help my clients identify key challenges and then guide them towards success by helping them shift perceptions, eliminate obstacles, identify strengths and gain clarity. Then I provide ongoing accountability for them as they implement their goals through an established plan.

    The Coach/Client Relationship

Coaching is a collaborative relationship between the coach and client where the coaching process continually gives all the power back to the client. I believe that the client knows the answers to every question or challenge they may have in their life, even if those answers appear to be obscured, concealed or hidden inside.

My skills are about knowing the right questions to ask and having the right tools, techniques and assessments to empower you to find those answers within yourself.

As your coach, you can expect:
  • Attentive, curious and interested listening in every interaction
  • A calm presence that encourages you to step out of day to day pressures, creating a space for sustainable change to emerge
  • Brainstorming that combines wisdom and experience with a splash of inquisitiveness to allow realistic possibilities to emerge
  • Confidentiality and trust
  • Acknowledgement and celebration of success
  • Honest feedback and accountability to stay on course
  • Insights from a professional with over twenty five years of experience working with people in the legal, nonprofit and public affairs sectors

    How Does Coaching Work?

Before you get started with a coach, it is important to decide on two factors.

FIT: You need to know if you and the coach will be a good fit. Will the coach “get” you enough for your relationship to be both easy and challenging?

RETURN ON INVESTMENT: You need to know if your coach will help you to clarify and actively pursue the goals and outcomes you set. Will there be a clear return on investment?

In order to answer these two questions, I begin each coaching relationship with a free informational conversation. If we’re a fit, we create an agreement and launch.

    Typical Coaching Format

  • Complimentary 30 minute coaching consultation to see if we’re a “fit”
  • 45-60 minute first session to design the coaching relationship
  • Weekly 45-60 minute phone call or in-person sessions (sessions can vary in length and frequency depending on client preferences)
  • Unlimited email support between sessions
  • Occasional brief check-in calls

    Coaching Packages

In our working relationship you should feel supported and safe when discussing the important parts of your life knowing that our discussions are held in the strictest confidence. This is why I ask for a free 30 minute in-person meeting or phone consultation to see if we are a good “fit.” If we are, then we complete the coaching agreement and launch.

The majority of my clients benefit from a minimum of six sessions to experience the beginning of a new change in their career or lives. To accommodate this, I offer six session coaching packages which are discounted from my standard hourly rate. Of course, I accommodate whatever scheduling needs a client has and am willing to look at flexible fee options in certain cases.

Please call me at 206-353-8102 or email me with questions to learn more about fees and coaching packages.
